The Hottest Reads, Restaurants & Shopping To Humblebrag About

Here's my non-scientific yet still totally legit list of the places everyone in the OS is uploading from, and the things they're texting about, circa right now.

Entertainment

Book: The Last Good Heist by Tim White, Randall Richard & Wayne Worcester

The story of the burglary of millions in Mafia loot (aka, cash, furs, and jewelry) stashed at the old Hudson Fur Storage on Cranston Street in the cap city is def trending. I was lucky enough to grab 2 copies yesterday at Barrington Books Retold in GC. They had more in stock last I checked, but they're gonna go fast. (The real question tho is how long before the movie deal and filming in and around PVD?)

Tour: Save Superman RI

Wish I'd gotten tix. They sold out about an hour after being made available. If you posted on FB or on Instagram from this historic structure, desperately in need of a real-life hero to rescue it from ruin, you won at social media. (Although I will say that the interior light, or lack thereof, made it pretty darn difficult to strike Insta gold with any of the photos...K, maybe I'm #jealous.)

Food

Vegetarian, Vegan Or You Want Something New And Different: Vinya

Eating a meat free diet in RI can be tricky. Hey, there are always the fallbacks - French fries and pizza. And I do have my fav spots, but sometimes I want newness. Enter Vinya downtown, which reopened for biz at the beginning of Sept. Two of my healthy eating friends have already been and given the raw cuisine thumbs up. Go for the small plates, stay for the mocktails, especially if you've ever found yourself ranting about the scarcity of eateries in the 401 offering plant-based menus.

Food Trend: Donuts and Tacos (tie)

Absolutely everybody's obsessed with donuts and tacos these days.

Donuts: PVDonuts on Ives Street

Still the one. (#sorrynotsorry) Get to their brand new location on the corner of Ives and Wickenden, in Providence's Fox Point neighborhood, EARLY for best chance of getting your hands on a Cereal Milk or any of their other delish flavors. (They open at 8am, Wed thru Sun, and there's Nitro Brew too!) Also, upload a photo of your PVDonut du jour to IG and they might repost it to their page.

Tacos/Thirsty Thursday: Tacos and Trivia at The Rosendale

$2 homemade tacos and $2 beers with your weekly dose of trivia? Yesss, please. And remember to get a pic in front of the Dale's Insta Famous Food & Drink mural, around the corner from the entrance. (You're welcome.)

Shopping

Menswear (Street Style/Vintage): Fine Malt Vintage

Whether you're looking to channel your inner Sporty Spice (Victoria Beckham wrote the book on RBF or Resting Bitch Face, which btw I have been known to suffer from.) or you want to gift that special guy in your life with a fantastic retro tee, tank, or hat, then it's gotta be Fine Malt. All the cool kids in the Ocean State are shopping there and 'they' probably won't be too happy about having to share, but whatevs. Don't let that keep you from the sharp prices and looking sharp!

Ciao for Now,

Patty J
