This RI Artist Is Once Again Drawing Attn To A Women's Health Crisis & Her Project Is So Inspiring
"It has been amazing to meet so many brave women who have shared their stories of having breast cancer or losing a friend or family member with me. This project is beyond breast cancer awareness. It is ultimately about connecting women and cheerleading one another.”
Janelle Feigley, artist, designer, stylist & owner of Gossip boutique in Wickford Village
It’s year two of my friend Janelle’s dynamic, philanthropic art project for breast cancer awareness month, one that she’s christened the People Project. The goal is to help raise money for and consciousness about breast cancer and as well as women's health and wellness in general.
Once again she’s set an ambitious goal - to paint a minimum of a nude (or partial nude) a day, featuring a woman who’s been impacted on some level by the disease. Some days she does multiple sittings and paints up to three portraits. She’s also sharing the completed works on her Instagrams. (Scroll to the bottom to access those links and click thru for a look at her work to date.)
Last year, once the portraits were completed, the Project was featured in the ProJo and on several local tv outlets. The response from those wanting to be part of this year’s People Project has been incredible! As of now, Janelle is still taking names and working on fitting in as many people as possible. If you’re interested (or would like to have your name added to the list for next year), reach out to Janelle via her Instagram accounts listed below.
