Live Life In Full Bloom

Hey there! Whether you’re a native Rhode Islander or you’ve fallen in love with the state after relocating here from somewhere else, odds are you’re already familiar with the Daffodil Days Festival in Newport. But what about Wickford Village? Our favorite cozy, quaint enclave in NK has some terrific activities on the schedule for this coming weekend and you’ll definitely want to motor over and take part. Because, in this case, FOMO (fear of missing out) is very real.

Daffodil Days are coming to NK.

Let The Good Thymes Roll

This coming Saturday and Sunday, ring in Daffodil Days and the Spring recess, by taking the kiddies for a ride around town on the trackless railroad (aka, the Roaming Railroad). In addition, Sunday only, there’s a horse drawn carriage ride and guided tour with local historian Tim Cranston, courtesy of the fine folks at New Deal Horse & Carriage. We took one of their annual Halloween tours last October and it was…spooktacular (Yes, I went there!). So no doubt, this will be equally as fantastic. Also, these tours sell out quickly and space is limited, so if you’re interested, best not to dilly dally.

Last Bud Not Least

There’s also an e-cycle drive in the town parking lot where you can drop off any outdated electronics that you wish to Marie Kondo out of your life forever. But wait, there’s still more to explore beyond this last eco-conscious event! A few of my personal fav things to do at The Wick include:

  • Popping over to Shayna’s Place on Brown Street for a smoothie, coffee (They have oat milk now too!), or sandwich

  • Hiking the Rome Point Trail (otherwise known as the John H. Chaffee Nature Preserve) where you might get a look at some harbor seals before they head north #SeaDogs

  • Scoping out the displays and neat merch at the Yes! Gallery on Brown Street and stopping by Gossip on Main Street to see if Janelle, the owner who’s also an artist, is live painting

  • Have a photo op with the ginormous front portion of the vintage airplane (a 1940’s DC-3) out in front of Wickford Antique Estate Liquidators on Ten Rod Road

  • Dinner at Tate’s Italian (Last time I was there, it was hopping!)
