There's A Fruit Truck Coming To New England This Weekend & It Sounds Just Peachy

You can go the traditional route of course and put them into a pie or a cobbler.

You can also grill them, with some cinnamon and butter, which sounds pretty incredible.

Or how about some refreshing peach iced tea (with the temps and humidity we’ve been having…jus sayin, not complainin) or a brunchtime Bellini (Peaches, mango nectar, & Prosecco anyone?)?

And I just found out that peaches, the official state fruit of Georgia, are in fact part of the rose family.

The iconic fruit has also been immortalized in numerous country - and country rock - songs over the years. (I know, I know…it’s code for attractive women from Georgia.)

I say all this because the Georgia Peach Truck is on an East Coast Tour this month, and going to be in Rhode Island today and parts of Connecticut tomorrow.

It might be too last minute to get to Hattoy’s Nursery in Coventry today at noon, but the great news is they’ll be back again on Friday, August 2nd at noon. So, mark your calendars, set an alert on your phone, cover your refrigerator with Post-It’s (Romy & Michelle would approve!) if you have to.

Later today, from 2:30 to 4pm, they’ll also be at one of my favorite spots in the OS, The Farmer’s Daughter in Wakefield. Thankfully that isn’t their only appearance at Farmer’s. If you can’t swing by this afternoon (maybe the beach is calling), they’ll be back again on August 2nd at those same exact times.

Tomorrow they’ll be making stops in nearby Connecticut, including Darien, whose famous residents have included Kate Hepburn, Glenn Close, Meg Ryan, and 90’s Indie It Girl Chloe Sevigny.

If you want super fresh, juicy, non-gmo peaches from a state known for producing some of the best ones around, I highly suggest making a plan for one of their pop-ups in the area this Summer. They’ve available by the box for $45, and credit cards are the preferred payment (no cash). It’s also extremely Insta worthy photo op, so make sure your smart phone is charged and ready.
