Your Fave Bakery Is Open For Hot Chocolate (And More) In Case You Want Out Of The House

We woke up this morning to the first substantial snow of the holiday season, thanks to Winter Storm Gail blanketing Rhode Island with gazillions of flakes, the small ones that stick.

Not quite a blizzard but enough to make things tricky in terms of road conditions and such.

Understandably the closure and cancellation updates on Instagram and elsewhere started popping up yesterday afternoon.

Also, my favorite local weather person — not surprisingly — ended up working a rounder, staying at the station all night and even joining the morning show to talk overnight snow totals and what else we can expect. (How ABC 6’s Jeff Desnoyers hasn’t been voted Best Of RI is beyond me: He is hard working, genuinely nice, and humble.)

And, truth be told, we’d made some major outdoor plans (something food-related that I’ve been wanting to be try since 2017 or 2018) for today that we were thankfully able to reschedule for next week. Fingers crossed we don’t get another Nor’easter!

Now, you could stay indoors and shop online, but first, any and all guarantees that you’ll receive your purchases in time for Christmas are off. Second, if you’re up for a little walking in a winter wonderland in the next few hours (after working in retail for many years and ruining my feet trying to run around in heels, I got smart a few years ago and finally made sure I had comfy and warm boot options for bad weather in the closet), and you live in the vicinity of a Seven Stars, you’re in luck because they are apparently open for business today.

They also (applause, applause) have oat milk and an app that lets you order quickly and easily in advance.

Furthermore I’ve grown accustomed to going out on a Thursdays (hellooooo, cabin fever) and so, I’ll be pulling on a pair of snow booties shortly and heading over to my local neighborhood Seven Stars to pick up some hot drinks, sandwiches, and pastries.

Go to their site to scope out their comple menu and start planning out your snow day snacks and meals.
