You & Your BFF Will Want To Breakfast At This New Food Truck In PVD

I could live on oatmeal and coffee. I mean, they are definitely at the tippity top of my desert island eats list.

So, when I found out this week that there was a new-ish (as of October 2019) “oat mobile” making the rounds around Providence, I knew I had to track it down and fast.

And a little rain (much preferable to a February snow storm, right?) wasn’t going to stop me.

After stalking the Oatmiel Cafe IG, it quickly became apparent that the trailer goes out every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday (so much for my plans to motor over to PVD yesterday morning), and that the owner posts that day’s specific location up at the top in Stories. (Stories continue to be where it’s at, you guys!)

After navigating thru a bit of traffic around the 1-95 exit (doesn’t matter what time you’re on that part of the highway, there always seems to be a tie up of some kind) a few hours ago, we spotted the little turquoise blue trailer at the end of South Water Street.

Oatmiel Cafe on wheels, which bills itself as “Providence’s very first oatmeal shop,” specializes in sweet and savory bowls of hot oatmeal and fair trade coffee and what could better? The owner greeted me right away, thanking me for coming out in the rain (so nice) and explaining that she just started the business last October.

I proceeded to peruse the menu which features the ft coffee, 5 sweet bowls, 5 savory ones, and (for the Sally-Albright-esque-picky-eater in your life perhaps?) the option to create your own, finally deciding on the Bee Kind with caramelized apples and pears, raisins, cinnamon, nutmeg, pure maple, and flax & chia seeds.

She’s taking the oatmeal you remember from your childhood, or the other day, and elevating it to a whole other level. In other words, yum!

She also sent me on my way with some cute blue stickers with the OC logo and a daily fortune which I found uplifting and cheery on such a dreary day.

PS ~ Pretty sure that gluten free options are available as well.

Also, literally just read something about how oatmeal bowls are currently on track to be the NEW acai bowls, yet another reason to check this food trailer out this month.

I mean, you’ll definitely want to get to the OC before all the Instagram Foodies start posting about it in your feed in the coming weeks and there’s a line down the street.
