The South County Cafe You'll Want To Add To Your Al Fresco Coffee & Snack Rotation

Whether you’re going to be in the area visiting The Farmer’s Daughter, Peter Pots Pottery (the mugs we just picked up there are marvelous) or the sunflower field at Clark Farm in Matunuck (quite Instagram-able, in case you were wondering), then you’ll want to pop over to one of my personal go-to’s of many years, TLC Coffee Roasters situated on Kingstown Road in West Kingston.

Open since 1999, TLC has become known for both fair trade coffee and friendly service.

Pre-pandemic, I would usually stop at TLC about once a week on average for a late afternoon coffee and a scrumptious muffin or a scone. Yesterday was my first time back since Covid 19 changed all of our daily lives and you know what? The beverages and baked goods were as tasty and fresh as ever!

Furthermore, ecstatic to report that they still have their signature wall of 21 flavors of iced coffees up and running. There’s really no one else doing THAT or even coming close (in terms of consistency, quality, and the all important yumminess factor) around these parts.

Our Order Yesterday Late Afternoon At TLC Coffee Roasters

I mean, even my husband who has started to take a lot of pride in being so darn picky about food and drink, was doling out the compliments about his order — a hot decaf tea and a lemon poppyseed muffin — yesterday afternoon. (See photo above.)

In addition, as you can plainly see in the first photo up top, there are plenty of picnic tables out back, so you’ll be able to soak up some Vitamin D whilst enjoying your eats and drinkies. (We also saw more than a few people digging into orders inside their cars.)

And I do adore their philosophy about how “there’s always time for coffee” (it’s on their site’s home page) because tbh it could describe one of the key storylines of my own life.

***TLC Coffee Roasters is located at 3362 Kingstown Road, WEST KIngston, Rhode Island. (PS ~ I went to URI and frankly continue to be confused about the overlap, in regards to where businesses are listed as being located, with West Kingston, Wakefield, South Kingstown, and so on.)
