We Tried Out This New Bakery In West Warwick And It Was Terrific

This Bakes Me Happy

My friend KG and I motored over to the new-ish (open since August 2021) Victoria’s Sweets & Bakery on Main Street in West Warwick (aka, Arctic, and in the spot formerly occupied by Matos) not long ago and picked up some of their Portuguese sweet bread, chocolate chip cookies, and other pastries.

Now, I just LOVED the bread and cookies, everything was utterly delish.

That being said, I thought you’d also want to hear from KG about her mom’s (who is Portguese) review:

“Mom has been loyal to a Portuguese bakery in Swansea, that is the only sweet bread she would allow me to buy — until today! She cannot stop gushing about how amazing this bread is, miles ahead and taste and texture than her usual…Which is quite a review and itself. I agree it was delicious. Looks like I’ll be going back many times for her sweet bread. She literally had two pieces, two huge slices from that loaf.”

But Wait, There’s MORE

The really great news is that this and every weekend when you go to Victoria’s, they’ll not only have that outstanding bread (you can also get it sliced and I agree with KG who says it’s pretty amazing toasted with a cuppa of morning coffee), but also malasadas or Portuguse doughnuts.

While they last of course.

I mean, I have a funny feeling that they do a brisk morning business and that those donuts sell out by noontime. Or earlier.

Victoria’s has all kinds of sweet treats (including traditional Portuguese eats like rice pudding and mini orange cupcakes called Cajada de laranja) and they also offer custom cakes. (See photos above from their IG.)
