Yesterday (December 7th) In Jamestown, All Photos Courtesy Of Me

Christmas Is Coming

I first stumbled upon this festive shanty that overlooks the harbor and the NPT Pell Bridge (believe it or not) by way of a search of the Airbnb app 3-ish years ago.

2 Christmases ago I actually made it over to take phone photos.

And yesterday I zipped over and happily snapped the image above.

Yesss, Newport is quite nice this time of year, but if you’re looking for somewhere a little quieter and more serene, then Jamestown it is.

After picking up some takeout sandwiches at East Ferry Deli (there’s something for everyone on their girnormous menu) or the Village Hearth, you can stroll over for a looksee.

Also, you won’t wanna miss the vintage fire truck parked out front of 50 Narragansett Avenue. (See image below.)

After spotting it in 2019 and wondering exactly how a 1947 Dodge f/t emblazoned with Block Island on the hood had ended up in Jamestown, I threw myself into some online research.

Apparently BI sold it to the retired fire chief for a dollar so it could be part of the Fire Department Memorial Museum (photo below) and one of the local fire fighters then used his own time and money to restore it.

As always, if you check in from any of these places in J/T, please let your friends know you found out about them via Patty J and PattyJ.com.
