The Wonderful Tea Cottage In Wickford For Sips And Sweets With Your Friend Group

Fancy A Cuppa Tea?

If you make one reservation for an afternoon out this spring, it’s gotta be for tea at Sweet Marie’s in Wickford, named for the owner’s grandmother and open since last summer in the bungalow that used to be My Paris Apartment, a few steps behind Wickford Gourmet Factory Outlet.

This completely refurbished (the owner lovingly restored the interior last year) shabby chic cottage is a sensational spot for sips, sandwiches with the crusts cut off, scones, mini cupcakes, truffles, macarons, and of course, pots of TEA.

Not to be a broken record or anything but it’s VERY Miss Honey’s home in the 1996 movie Matilda meets Pam Anderson’s Malibu beach house from a year 2000 episode of MTV Cribs (highly recommend Googling it!) with a dash of Anna, wife of the seventh duke of Bedford circa 1840 (who is credited with rolling out what is now known as afternoon tea).

They’ll also accomodate any dietary restrictions. Case in point, my friend KG and I don’t eat meat, so they prepared a high tea tray with 3 different kinds of meat-free finger sandwiches (including cucumber and chive cream cheese, hummus and red peppers, and strawberries and cream).

And you could even book it for a special event like a birthday party or bridal shower.

To get a taste of what it’s really like there, I’m sharing photos below that you won’t see on my IG or anywhere else.

Sweet Marie’s TEA is open Thursday thru Sunday and reservations for the 12noon or 2pm seatings are REQUIRED. (They don’t take walk-ins.) It’s like somewhere out of a fairy tale or a dreamy-y motion picture.

As always, if you make a res after reading this, please do let them know you were inspired by Patty J and PattyJ.com.
