The Comfort Food At This Providence Restaurant Is Perf For Your Next Casual Dinner
Did Someone Say Biscuits?
Truth be told I’ve been trying my darnest to eat more salads, but I also live for really great comfort food like biscuits, potatoes, anything fried, mac and cheese, and the like. A lotta people might say the same thing, but I’m someone who irl will actually eat all the carbs.
Another pertinent detail I feel compelled to share? Like me, my glam friend Karen does NOT eat meat.
All things considered (it’s a lot, I know), the Kin menu — helloooo, classic Southern fare — actually turned out to be pretty easy for us to navigate and ultimately end up ADORING.
For our first dinner there, the two of us ordered lemonades and we split a bunch of small plates and sides including: their Bucket of Biscuits (the honey butter was an epiphany, an outstanding add-on to the slightly crispy and substantial-without-being-too -heavy biscuits), Farm Salad (super fresh and the citrus-y dressing was a delight), Garlic Mashed (an absolute must, sooo delish), and finally, the Baked Mac & Cheese (a slightly spicy and welcome update on the traditional dish).
For those who do partake of chicken or beef, you’ll find plenty of plates at Kin to split with your besties on your next Thursday, Friday or Saturday night out in PVD this season and beyond.
The portions are generous: Karen and I have split salads and everything else and have walked out with leftovers.
PS And BTW: The owner and proprietor of Kin, Julia Broome, is a Providence native and fellow Classical High School alum.
Also, they have started serving Sunday BRUNCH and are hosting a special one in May for Mom’s Day.
Kin is located at 71 Washington Street in Providence.
As always, if you grab brunch or dinner at Kin after reading this, please do let them know you were inspired by Patty J and PattyJ.com.
