So Many Rhode Islanders Say These Are The Most Delicious Donuts Around

Do Or Donut, There Is No Try

Word to the wise, if you’re trying to get your hands on some Allie’s Donuts, best to get there early.

And bring cash money. No plastic or mobile pay apps. (Thankfully I had a few greenbacks in my wallet.)

I say this because we zipped over to this 2nd generation family biz (dating back to 1968) the other day about a half hour before they were scheduled to close, and so many of their most popular ones were already sold out.

Also, a guy who passed us on his way out — with several boxes under his arm — shouted out cheekily, “Good Luck!” (Okayyy, guy. 🙄)

Let me just assure that guy and everyone currently reading that we did NOT leave empty handed, so don’t cry for me, Argentina.

We actually managed to scoop up some of their FAMOUS raised doughnuts, three of their frosted (chocolate, maple, and strawberry) and three of their much-adored sprinkle topped.

Details? They were so LIGHT and FLUFFY, and everyone I shared them with went gaga over the sweet pillow-y perfection.

The space certainly doesn’t double as the best backdrop for phone photos or a REEL, but the freshness and multi-layered taste of the darn doughnuts more than makes up for that.

Their signature donut cakes are available by way of special order and are the stuff of legend. (They will custom make just about any shape from a football to balloons or wedding rings.)

Natives, transplants, and former RI’ers all rave about Allie’s Jelly Sticks, Old-Fashioneds, Honey Dips, Boston Creams, and Crullers.

Find the iconic Allie’s Donuts (open Wed. thru Sunday from 6am to 2pm) at 3661 Quaker Lane in North Kingstown, RI.

As always, if you go after reading THIS, please let them (and your friends) know you were inspired by Patty J and PattyJ.com.
