We Had Brunch On The Patio At This Jamestown Restaurant And Wow

Summer brunch is, in my book, vastly different from winter brunch. Ideally it involves a picturesque outdoor setting, extra points if it’s on or near the water.

And of course a menu of satisfying without being overly filling dishes like eggs or omelettes, muffins as well as at least one mimosa option.

That is where Beech on Narragansett Avenue in Jamestown comes in: Formerly Simpatico, the space has undergone a major glow-up (as the kids call it) and as of this Summer is open not only for dinner but also Sunday brunch.

First off, if the sun’s shining or even if it’s partly cloudy, you’ll want to sit out on their patio. Or upstairs on the 2nd level, now known as the Treehouse, overlooking the patio and huge outside bar. (The interior is quite lovely but let’s embrace every chance to dine al fresco while the sun shines, summers are short here, et cetera.)

Next, it’s time to pick a beverage. Now I went with a lemonade and my brother who joined me for brunch opted for an Arnold Palmer. If you’re prefer one of the above mentioned mimosas — or a Bloody Mary, crisp white wine, or an Aperol Spritz — you won’t be disappointed.

Food wise, I really wanted to try the muffin of that day which turned out to be a strawberry something or other, grilled and served with butter, but unfortunately it was sold out. We ended up starting with the Cheesy Grits which were an unexpected delight. Who knew? (Coincidentally someone I know is traveling down South, near the Gulf of Mexico and grits are on the menu at pretty much every stop.)

We wrapped things up with two egg based dishes — the veggie omelette for my brother and the huevos rancheros for me. (See photos.) The portions were a nice size (not over the top and not skimpy either) and everything tasted super fresh and light.

Brunch wraps up at 2pm, so don’t dilly dally. As a matter of fact it’s probably wise to make a reservation, instead of leaving things to chance.

Also, after your meal, you can take a nice leisurely stroll around town.
