A Delicious Lunch At This New Italian Restaurant On Federal Hill In Providence
Five star lunch yesterday at the new-ish Trattoria Appia on Atwells Avenue in Providence!
Formerly Zooma, the whole space and menu had a makeover this past winter, and the results are in a word divine.
They did hold on to three of the best things from the days of Zoom, though, namely: (1) the special wine pouring (and preservation) system, (2) the awesome pizza oven, and (3) the glass walled room at the entrance where you can see folks making fresh pasta throughout the day (I mean, it doesn’t get any more authentic than that, amirite?).
Of course we started with a fresh salad and a (thin crust) pizza pie. So yummy. (They also have gluten free crust available. Just ask and they will craft your pie with it.)
The pasta really took this mid-day meal to the next level. Again, it’s all made daily on the premises using premium ingredients (the flour is imported from Italy) and you can taste that in every single bite.
The gnocchi with sautéed eggplant amd mozzarella was out of this world. Als, did you know thdey have vegan options? For example, the delish cavatappi with veggies is ideal for those plant based eaters in your circle as the pasta is made without egg.
Whether you’re looking to take your significant other out for an incredible dinner or you want to have a really nice lunch on The Hill with friends, you’ll want to add Appia to faves (wink 😉 ).
Find Appia at 245 Atwells Avenue in Providence, Rhode Island. (They are open for lunch Wednesday thru Sunday and for dinner Tuesday thru Sunday.)
