The Jamestown Eatery That Everyone's Talking About Right Now

the other night at Salty in Jamestown

Salty, a pop-up restaurant situated in the Village Hearth Bakery in Jamestown, has been on my list for quite some time, and the other night the hubs and I finally made it over there.

Open Wednesday thru Sunday starting at 6pm, this wife and husband bistro features a seasonal menu with ingredients sourced from a bunch of local makers and purveyors.

If you’re already a fan of PVD restaurants like Persimmon (pretty sure thsat Sarah Jessica Parker ate there a few years ago when she was in town filming Hocus Pocus 2), New Rivers, and Frank & Laurie’s (in more celeb restaurant news, GP was there last year and gave it a rave review I hear), you’re gonna go gaga over Salty.

A cozy, off-the-beaten-path, and New American cuisine style spot (again it is still Village Hearth Bakery & Cafe during the day) where you and your significant other or you and a foodie friend can go for a bunch of shareable plates (everything on the menu is meant to be enjoyed that way, so order a bunch of things and go to town) and some creative sips. We had tea because it was a cold February nite but whatevers.

Yes, the menu has several sections like bites (appetizers) and to share (aka, the main). I ordered two bread plates — the focaccia and the brioche toast. Both were excellent and must trys for any fellow carb lovers out there in Lil Rhody.

We also dipped into the scallops (Tom ate most of those, luckily I was able to get my hands on one or two) as well as the winter lobster (a hearty stew with lobster, beans, mushrooms, and watermelon radishes) which goes perfectly with the focaccia bread.

We wrapped up the meal with something from the dessert section — namely, the chocolate mousse which was in a word dynamite.

Find Salty at 2 Watson Avenue in Jamestown, Rhode Island.
