We Took A Pierogi Making Class In Woonsocket At This Polish Bakery Deli

making pierogi at Krakow Deli, Bakery & Smokehouse

We had a wonderful time at the Sunday Pierogi Making Class at Krakow Deli, Bakery, & Smokehouse, helmed by brother and sister owners Krystian and Marta. (A pierogi is a dumpling stuffed with cheese, potatoes, meats or fruit. For my Italian American friends, think ravioli.)

They guided us through every step, from making and separating out the dough to mixing the potato and cheese stuffing, stuffing each one (and the all important pinching the ends closed), and cooking them in boiling water for 2 minutes.

Thanks to Krystian and Marta, two novies (that’s me and my husband) ended up doing quite alright.

In between steps, we were treated to different Polish dishes (red and white borscht, potato salad and more) and some entertaining stories about the food told by Krystian.

Once we had all cooked up our pierogis, we sat down for a delightful lunch thoughtfully prepared by the two of them that included a lazy pierogi (highly recommend) and several dessert pierogis (blueberry and apple).

We also sampled some gelato (cream and mocha flavors…the cream is a NEW fave and Krystian has a story about the history behind that particular flavor) which they’ll soon be carrying on a regular basis.

Krakow is a truly authentic Polish deli and bakery (the owners were born and raised in Poland) with all kinds of breads, baked goods, sweets, and meats. It’s a must visit for all of my foodie friends in Rhode Island.

If you’re looking for something new to do this winter, I encourage you to sign up for one of their classes.

PS — Everyone in the pierogi one got to keep their apron, too.

Find Krakow Deli, Bakery, & Smokehouse at 855 Social Street in Woonsocket, Rhode Island.

As always, if you go after reading THIS, please let them know you were inspired by Patty J and PattyJ.com.
