The Coffee Diaries: Cappuccino In The City

Late last night, we stopped en route to NYC and picked up a bandage for my (I think sprained) right foot.

One good thing about an injured ankle? You can still sit and check your I-Phone.

All without being murdered or anything.

One thing you should be aware of?

Lots of creepy people at those roadside stops. Not gonna lie – I did get a little rattled when a truly strange guy appeared seemingly out of nowhere, followed us into the store and started trying to chat us up. I wanted to say 'Step off - I'm a blogger!'

Thankfully, we made it out of there intact and lived to have a cappuccino (along with a full breakfast) this morning at Sant Ambroeus, which I say has the best damned cappuccino in the whole entire city.

There I said it. No disrespect to Howard Schultz (aka, coffee demigod and Starbucks CEO). ☕️☕️☕️

It’s also a place where I could imagine Lily Vanderwoodsen (Yes, I’ve gone and watched every season of Gossip Girl on Netflix, but then again, who hasn't? If only everyone would just come out and admit to being a GG fan without any shame, the world would be such a better place, ya know?) having coffee. Or breakfast. Pretty sure though that Lily would NOT appear at Sant Ambroeus with a puke color bandage on her right foot though, but sometimes I can be punk rock like that.

Lots of celebrities, including people like Kelly Rutherford, who played Lily on GG (and is also one of my Instagram idols) and Lenny Kravitz (rock demi god), are fans of Sant Ambroeus. So, it may not be instagrammed (Is that a verb? If not, it should be dammit!) as much as say a place like Jack's Wife Freda (I keep seeing so many pix online of people having coffee and waffles there. Are waffles a thing now? Because I've always liked pancakes or toast way more.), but it should still be at the top of your list of places to visit next time you're in the city.

PS - It's my theory that it takes anywhere from 3-5 years for a trend to migrate from NYC to RI. That being said, I predict that waffles are going to be the next big food thing here in the Ocean State soon. Watch for it. 🍴😉
