RI Style Diaries: Where To Shop
If I were ever going to open my own store*, I'd want it to be just like Galapagos...
From the coffee bar with its book lined shelves to the phenomenal selection of costume (jewelry), denim (After years of dressing up like Coco Chanel, these days, I kind of hate going anywhere I can't wear jeans.) and more to the low key vibe (aka, They let you browse. No stalking.), there's no place else quite like it in Rhode Island.
I originally discovered it by accident. I used to drive by all the time in the summer on my way to Watch Hill (This was during the pre-Taylor Swift days of WH mind you.), without realizing. Then, when I asked my friend Claire about the red house on Old Post Road, she said something like - 'Oh MG, that's Galapagos! You have to go - You would love it! They have so many beautiful things. You'd have a ball there'.
OK, #SheWasRight
True Story: I actually bought my first pieces from Milly and DVF there, as well as a neat looking costume ring. It was silver with a yellow stone and everyone thought it was expensive. Think I paid $25 or $30 for it? Loved that ring. Think I lost it when I took it off to wash my hands (at my old job). To the person who "found" it on the bathroom counter there and didn't turn it in, I hope you're enjoying it. Not!
Some Of What's New for Spring 2015. I'll Take One Of Everything Please.
Labels they carry that I either already own and adore or aspire to own and adore:
80%20, AG, Alexis Bitter, Alice + Olivia, Current/Elliot, Donald Pliner, DVF, Equipment, Fabrizio Gianni, Hudson, J Brand, James Jeans, Joie, Mother, Orla Kiely, Pink Tartan, Rachel Roy, Rebecca Minkoff, Rich & Skinny, Saint James, Sam Edelman, Tibi, Trina Turk and Vince
Pretty great mix, huh? #WellCurated too...In fact, much of what you see there, you won't see anywhere else in RI or the surrounding area.
See ya...at Galapagos,
PattyJ
PS - You can also shop their site without leaving your couch or changing out of your pajamas or sweatpants. Just sayin.
*I am not opening a store. There was this crazy rumor (after I left my old job) that I was going to open something. Sorry folks - Not happening. I'll stick to blogging (and shopping) and leave the boutique'ing to places like Galapagos.
