Fresh Juice And More New-ness for Spring 2015
Getting shorts and swimsuit ready for Spring/Summer 2015?
1. Plain Water Is Boring.
Yawnsville. But before you reach for that lemon wedge, stop and read on. Lemon water is so last year. Go beyond it and embrace spa water. Pick up a bottle at Whole Foods. They have tons of different varieties (See pic above.) or make your own at home. Remember to use filtered water and organic fruits and veggies whenever possible. (Replace flat water with seltzer and viola, you have a 'cocktail' that won't give you a migraine or make your face all puffy the next morning.)
A few Spa Waters you can mix up at home: Pineapple and Fresh Mint; Cucumber, Lime and Mint; Cucumber and Strawberry; Cucumber water is also a fab post workout beverage option.
2. Let's Talk Organic.
Organic fruits and veggies? Yes! Organic cookies and potato chips? Not so fast. Honestly? We've all been there. A few years ago, when Whole Foods first opened near me, I used to snack on cookie dough and brownie bites almost every day. Hey, they're organic! It was all diamonds and chocolate bars (figuratively speaking of course) until things got real and I couldn't fit into my jeans (and a bunch of other pants) anymore. Don't you fall into that same trap - Organic cakes, cookies, chips or chocolate are ok as a treat, but eat them every day and they'll have the same overall effect as their non-organic counterparts. Worst case scenario? Even your yoga pants will be too tight.
3. YOLO
Yeah, I went there. But it's true - You do only live once. So don't completely deprive yourself either. With that in mind (and depending on your own personal goals for fitness and/or weight loss), I say pick one night a week to eat your favorite cheat food. Fries. Pizza with extra cheese. Ice cream. Cookie dough. You get the idea. Just be sure that the one night doesn't turn into an entire week or month.
