My RI Life: Lauren Silveira of Organized For Life
I grew up in Cranston and have been a Rhode Island girl my whole life. I venture out on vacations, but have yet to leave this little state. I like cozy, and I suppose that's how I feel here. I recently made the move from "in downcity" Providence to Cumberland, and I am loving my new town!
I've always had a slight obsession with home design and being super organized. I was strongly influenced by my grandma Rose and my mom who took so much pride in their homes. Home for me was a gathering place for family and friends to laugh, eat and just be themselves. And a space to incorporate what you love. I actually enjoyed cleaning, organizing and rearranging furniture. In 2012 I took that obsession and started a blog with organizing tips which soon after morphed into my business, Organized for Life.
I think of myself as someone who helps others transform a space from cluttered and uninspiring to simplified and filled with life. I take my organizing skills and put them to work to make the space functional, and take pieces of what my clients love to make it feel like home. The perfect combo. I also am a student of feng shui and soon my business will incorporate those services. My first book House + Home = Love is coming out this fall, the ultimate guide to loving your space.
When I'm not helping others become Organized for Life, or watching Netflix, some of my favorite spots in Little Rhody are:
Sura on Westminster: Wish it was still walking distance, but totally worth the 30 min drive I now have to order their sushi or bibimbap with tofu. The service is also outstanding.
Ocean Mist: Anything directly on the ocean is the perfect spot for me, but the casual vibe and camaraderie you get at this spot is the best. I've been eyeing their Something on a Bagel and need to order that one on my next stop in.
Rome Point in North Kingstown: Not a food spot, but the perfect place to go for a hike and take in the beauty of Little Rhody. The trails lead out to the water with spectacular views of the Jamestown Bridge.
