This RI Artist Is Drawing Attn To A Women's Health Crisis & The Results Are So Inspiring

"At a time when social media and technology are dominating people's time and energy, I find the arts to be a great escape. People can connect to artwork in a way that is much greater than clicking a button to purchase a product online. There is an innate connection between the artist and the buyer, and that is magical."

Janelle Feigley, artist, designer, stylist & owner of Gossip in Wickford Village

Yesterday, I had a chance to catch up with my friend Janelle and find out more about the dynamic, philanthropic art project she's been working on this month. The goal being to help raise both money for, and awareness about, breast cancer as well as women's health and wellness in general. She set out to paint a nude a day, featuring different women who've been impacted on some level by breast cancer, and that's exactly what she's been busy doing. (The response from ppl wanting to be a part of this has been incredible btw! As of now, she taking names for NEXT October.) When asked about the way the project has effected her, she had this to say:

"It has been amazing to meet so many brave women who have shared their stories of having breast cancer or losing a friend or family member with me. This project is beyond breast cancer awareness. It is ultimately about connecting women and cheerleading one another.”

On Friday, November 3rd, from 5:30pm to 7:30pm, Janelle will be sharing the entire series of portraits, that she's christened the PEOPLE PROJECT, at Gossip on 16 Main St in Wickford, and you're invited! After the official unveiling, check out the shop, and maybe even catch a glimpse of Janelle, known as "Elle" in art circles, hence the name Elle Art Design over on Instagram, working on something new.
