This Fashion Design Workshop Is Everything Your Tween (Or Teen) Self Always Wanted

Fashion School Is Happening...Soon

As a designer, Elana Carello has an enviable resume, one that includes a shoutout from Oprah, and her whimisical line of knits being showcased in a variety of hit tv shows and movies. Fast forward to her return to RI, a new emerging line of fanciful sweaters, and the program she's put together to help teens (and now tweens too!) learn more about what really goes into being a working designer - Project FashionWorks. Today, we'll be spotlighting a tween from one of her PFW classes.

What Elana Says About...Adriana P

Adriana is a talented girl. She knows her own mind, has a creative vision, and she’s a leader. She often helps out other students in the class. She drafted the pattern and made her own skirt in my sewing class as well. She has a good taste level and chose a very interesting fabric. She has an openness and a fearlessness when it comes to design. I look forward to what she will accomplish in the teen class one day!

The Q & A With Adriana

  1. Your Style Influences? Eva Gotowski, Taylor Swift, and Loren Beech
  2. If You Could Dress Any High Profile Person? Sarah Hyland because the outfits I have seen her wear on the red carpet are the kind of things I love. I would mix what she already loves to wear with my style of designing, and she would look amazing.
  3. What are some of the challenges you've faced in pursing this career? One challenge is trying to design something and finding inspiration. When that happens, I'll look through pictures I've taken and that gives me ideas for outfits.
  4. What keeps you motivated? After I design one thing I really like, that gives me more motivation and inspiration to keep going.
