There's An Innovative New Clinic Opening In PVD Next Week & Wow
New Year, New Health Care Option
Sunday, December 1, 2019 is World AIDS Day. Many strides have been made in the diagnosis and treatment of HIV infection since the first World AIDS Day in 1988. For example, people living with HIV can have normal life expectancies and almost no chance of transmitting the virus to others if they take their medication. Also, Post-exposure prophylaxis (PEP) is available. PEP is a medicine prescribed after possible exposure to the HIV virus to prevent HIV infection. One fact that has remained constant is that getting tested and knowing your status is crucial.
The New Year will bring a new kind of clinic to Rhode Island. Inspired by the award-winning and innovative Dean Street Clinic in London, Open Door Health is brought to the state by the Rhode Island Public Health Institute.

“We are delighted to open a health clinic focused on sexual health and primary care for Rhode Island's LGBTQ population,” says Dr. Philip A. Chan, Open Door Health’s Medical Director.
