The Sweet Potato Sandwich From This Popular Local Bakery That I'm Fall-ing For
Back in October I discovered a meat-free sandwich at Seven Stars Bakery (photo below) that I immediately became obsessed with. Yes, it was that good! And I was all ready to write a love letter about it and hit publish here — until, that is, I saw that Seven Stars wouldn’t be selling it after October 16th.
Errr, yikes! (The disappointment was right up there with that time Dr. Perricone stopped making this bordering-on-magical cream that had cleared up my breakout prone skin so well that people were actually complimenting me on my complexion. Something that, trust me, never ever ever happened prior to. )
Apparently the White Bean Garden on sesame spelt bread was a “summer” offering, but thankfully they had a fall version that they would in fact be rolling out in the coming days. (Side bar…About 8 or 10 years ago, I attended this seminar during which the naturopath who was the key note mocked me for showing up in a St. John suit and also stressed the importance of eating local and in season. This was back when I worked in retail and was admittedly dressing like Emily Gilmore.)
Well, I finally made it over to their Cranston location (which currently boasts a completely inviting open air patio space) to give their autumnal sammy a try and it was pretty darn tasty. Yes, their brand-y new Roasted Sweet Potato Sub is delightful, delectable, and way better than anything I could have haphazardly thrown together in my kitchen at home. I’m also partial to their Kale Salad and Golden Turmeric Latte (happy to report that you can in fact get yours made with oat milk) in case you’re wondering.
Another detail I really want to highlight is that at the end of the day, Seven Stars donates any leftover sandwiches, pastries, and such to local shelters, something that I frankly would love to see more local businesses doing.
