3 Block Island Airbnb's For An Insta Worthy Staycation With Your BFF's This Spring
The NY Times famously dubbed it “the new Martha’s Vineyard” a few years back.
At some point in your life, you’ve probably ooh’ed and aah’ed over images of the 150 foot clay cliffs on the island’s south side (known collectively as the Mohegan Bluffs) that overlook the Atlantic Ocean, or the 140 step wooden staircase that leads down to the beautiful beach below.
Also, a friend’s granddaughter used to man the ticket booth for the boat that ferries people over and recalls selling tix to some famous faces, including one quirky, mostly movie actor in particular who bought a vacation home there way back in 1999.
I’m talking of course about Block Island.
If you’re thinking about staying local this year when the time comes to cash in that pto, and possibly enjoying one or more of the options available via Airbnb, here are three incredible looking properties located on BI to consider.
Modern Love
First off I could totally see a celeb or two (Here’s looking at Catherine Zeta and Michael Douglas who have a new-ish connection to RI because their son’s at Brown…) reserving this sleek, ultra modern house that looks as though it should be featured in AD (that’s the rebranded Architectural Digest) in New Shoreham (technically the tiniest town in the smallest state, in case you were wondering) that sleeps 7. This 4 bed and 2.5 bath stunner on the Mohegan Bluffs is ideal for a relaxing getaway for you and 5 or 6 of either your closest friends or your favorite family members. With plenty of natural light and ocean views it’s perf for taking mad amounts of photos for Instagram and Stories because what good is staying in a gorgeous house if you can’t humble brag about it on social? Staycation Goals
If you’re a fan of ocean views but want something a little more traditional, this updated farmhouse (also in New Shoreham) sounds like just the thing for an epic week away. The 3 bedroom and 2.5 bathroom retreat reportedly sleeps up to ten and boasts a wrap around porch (from which you can check out a variety of farm and exotic animals that call the property home), a yoga studio, and a short-ish walk from the ferry and to restaurants in town. (It sorta reminds me of a Rhody version of Nicole Kidman’s Aussie farm, where Conde Nast/Vogue filmed their 73 Questions interview with her back in 2015.) More deets here.
Stay Salty
Whether you want to start (or finish) that Great American novel you’ve been meaning to get to (raise your hand if you’re excited about another season of Younger, which some have described as “the Gossip Girl of the publishing industry”), you need a break from your everyday grind, or you’re hiding out from the paparazzi, Saltbox on The Block has your name written all over it. This 4 bedroom and 2 bath renovated cottage in secluded section of NS features water views, a second story deck with a grill for al fresco dining, an outdoor shower, and an interior spiral staircase.
