We Visited This Pretty Farmstand In South County And It's The Perf September Outing
It's the classic beginning of September struggle.
Your inbox and news feeds are filled with ads and articles about sweaters, boots, and pumpkin spice everything (including this year’s much debated Del’s — yesss, the LEMONADE — Pumpkin Spice flavor) even though it's still sunny, warm and 75 or 80 degrees most days.
So, you say that you haven't packed away any of your t-shirts or those open toed shoes yet (totally and completely understandable), but you still want to start enjoying some autumnal activities around the state?
Well, flip flops or not, your first stop has gotta be one of my forever favorite farmstands and garden centers: The Farmer’s Daughter RI where right now they have a rainbow of pumpkins just waiting, from traditional orange to newfangled hues such as pale blue, bright white, light and darker shades of greens.
Depending on your mood, all are great options for decorating outside — the front stoop or if you’re lucky enough to have a porch (jealous) — or in.
Farmer’s in South Kingstown is, in my opinion, the prettiest farm of its kind in all of Little Rhody!
But a visit there is about more than snapping photos for Instagram. (I did, however, take dozens and dozens, including the ones you see here, when we were at 716 Mooresfield Road location the other day.)
I say this because they also have a VERY nice selection of fresh sunflowers, seeds, gardening tools and acoutrements, fall plants, and last but not least, local produce.
It’s not overwhelming, but I would suggest bringing some of those sturdy reusable shopping bags.
We didn’t, but they were kind enough to lend us a plastic tray, so that we could get our veggies to our car without any mishaps or drama.
We picked up red peppers, eggplant, potatoes and grown-on-the-premises sweet corn.
And everyone loved that corn at dinner last night btw.
