You Can Make Your Own S'mores On The Lawn Of This World Famous Resort And Wow
Grace Kelly famously stayed there during the summer of 1956 while filming High Society, her last film role before marrying Prince Rainier III of Monacco, with Sinatra and Bing Crosby.
Surely you’ve heard of Grace Kelly Beach, a rocky bit of coastline, adjacent to her bungalow, where she would lounge on her time away from the set? (As the story goes, once the staff heard about GK’s having taken a liking to that postage stamp sized stretch of sand, salt water and stones, they had a wooden staircase built asap, so that she would no longer have to climb down the steep hill.)
These days, the lawn at Castle Hill is one of the buzziest, in-demand spots during the summer in Rhode Island, the place to see and be seen. Or more aptly, check in from on social. (Extra points if you can snag a seat during the golden hour!)
Now in the past, come winter, I would have gravitated to either their dining room or their cozy wood paneled bar for a hot toddy, but things being what they are at this point and time, I’m going back to their lawn this week for something called (drum roll, please) “Spark Some S’mores To Start 2021.”
And it sure looks as though the folks over at Castle Hill have taken the whole making s’mores fireside and elevated it to an epic level of cozy comfort.
Also, don’t forget the stunning views of the Newport Pell Bridge!
I say this because each private fire pit reservation (yes, you have to reserve your two hours in advance and they are going fast) is $200 but includes:
two hours of fire tending for you and up to 5 others in your household or pod
3 blankets that you get to bring home with when all is said and done
house-made hot chocolate or locally sourced hot apple cider with the option to spike either with a spirit
a platter of all the yummy fixings to make-your-own s’mores (Pretty sure they use old school Hershey bars but don’t quote me on THAT.)
Yes, I will be sharing more details and professional photos after our afternoon at CH, so please stay tuned and meet me back here.
