We Had Afternoon Tea On The Sipping Terrace At This Watch Hill Resort And Wow
If you missed the Fondue Village last winter, and early spring, at the Ocean House in WH, the great news is that they have completely transformed that area, creating a brand new summertime take on experiential patio dining to daydream and get giddy about.
Their Sipping Terrace which premiered about a week ago features 4 mini greenhouses with tables and chairs that can accommodate up to 4 people and all kinds of remarkable touches inside and out such as tall drinking glasses with different flower designs, chandeliers accented with bunches of faux lemons (fans of seasons 3-5 of the RHOBH know Yolanda Hadid would appreciate) and limes, a framed bench swing with matching Sip Smith Gin pillows (more about them in a sec), string lights, a pair of white wooden rocking chairs, and a sweet little bar off to the side.
We made a reservation for the Afternoon Tea which gave us a 2 hour window to embark on a smart phone photoshoot and Boomerang to our hearts’ content. (Trisha Kelley also joined to snap some professional photos.)
Once we were seated, the wait staff brought out water and the Cocktail of the Day — yesterday’s was a gin and tonic made with Sip Smith Gin (a London based spirit that seems to be on everyone’s lips, figuratively and literally, ty) and garnished with lotsa lime.
You can also order from the Sip Smith Gin based drink menu that’s been curated specifically for the Terrace. Or other adult beverages. A la carte. We did. (Just know that those are not included as part of the pre-paid package and as such you will receive a bill at the end of your par-tea.)
Next we got to pick from a long list of teas. (I’m sure you could probably get coffee too.)
Then it was time for the classic 3 tier tray of tiny crustless sandwiches, scones, and sweets, which did not disappoint. There was a nice variety with veggie, cheese, and salmon topped options as well as tiny chocolate chip scones and other delightful dessert bites.
If you’d prefer something at night, there is a dinner package. We poured over that menu yesterday at one point and it’s definitely something we would LOVE to do in the future.
I mean, after last summer, who couldn’t use a day and a night out at the OH, amirite?
