There's A Micro Bakery At This Ocean State Farm And It's Pretty Sweet
I’m a native Rhode Islander (born and raised on the West End of Providence) and honestly had no idea whatsoever that there was a place called Mapleville in our fair state.
Not until I happened upon a place called Mapleville Farm over on (where else?) Instagram, did I start to do a little digging and find out that it is in fact a village (lil Rhody has a whole lotta villages) in the town of Burrillville.
Wikipedia makes mention of a post office, fire station, and library, but if you’re looking for a reason to take a Rhode trip over on a cloudy day or you just need a break from the beach rn (I’m probably the only RI based blogger NOT posting sailboat and beach sunset photos over on IG this week), it’s definitely the rustic and small batch bakery stand at this sibling-owned farm.
One of the owners told me the other day that pre-everything-going-on-now they used to host dinners farmhouse style dinners. And they are in the midst of constructing a greenhouse on the property.
The most important thing to keep in mind, though, is that their baked goods are tippity top shelf!
We picked up some made-on-the-premises cookies, blueberry bread and jams (a peach and a blueberry) and as someone who loves the idea of homemade but has zero desire to bake bread or cook up jams on a stove top, I was only too happy to support their efforts and patronize their budding biz.
Also, the first Sunday of every month is “Croissant Sunday” which sounds magnifique and you can even sign up for one of their Breadbox Subscriptions !!!
They even have bouquets for sale.
Find Maple Farm (aka, Ben’s Bakery) at 544 Victory Highway in Mapleville, Rhode Island. And do check out their Instagram for updated hours (think they are strictly weekends at this point but I could be wrong) and menus @MaplevilleFarm.
As always, if you motor over AFTER reading this, please do let them know that you found out about them via Patty J and PattyJ.com.
