3 Swell Rhode Island Spots For Coffee With A Side Of Water Views
Whether you fancy your coffee hot or iced (how anyone can drink iced coffee during the winter is beyond me but whatevs), you'll appreciate these 3 terrific spots that also offer fantastic water views. Why not try them all in your travels around the Ocean State this month and next? And you never know WHO you’ll run into (hint, hint) over your next cup.
Coffee Grinder in Newport
Tucked away behind dozens of other shops and eateries on Bannister’s Wharf, we were pleasantly surprised to happen upon Coffee Grinder, a small but mighty coffee shop that also offers pastries, sandwiches, fresh fruit, and dozens of other drinks, a few years back. Sip your coffee while sitting out on a deck with ahhh-mazing views of Newport Harbor. Pretty close to postcard perfect.
PS ~ With Judge Judy and Jay (Leno) both owning homes in the area now, who knows, maybe they’ll be on line for coffee there in the coming months?
Presto Strange O Coffee Truck at The PVD Flea
The Providence Flea will be kicking off their outdoor season in June and on the outskirts of the tents, you'll find some of the most popular food trucks around, including one of my personal faves, Presto Strange O Coffee. Grab a cup of their organic joe before or after shopping and take it over to the walkway area along the Providence River. All your friends will have a serious case of fomo (that’s fear of missing out) when they see checking in on social.
PS ~ Almost 100% certain I saw J. Mascis from Dinosaur Jr. at The Flea 3 or 4 years ago.
PPS ~ Presto has a swell coffee shop they just opened in Warwick Neck a couple of momths ago, definitely worth checking out asap.
Coastal Roasters in Tiverton
Our introductory visit to Coastal Roasters was on a grey day back in 2016. CR definitely has a lot to offer, including of course delish coffee (they hand-roast their beans on the premises daily), a sweet small town vibe, and an outdoor set up that, this time of year especially, is tailor made for mobile uploading to IG and FB or just taking a meditative breather. Add in the colorful Adirondack chairs that overlook the Sakonnet River and Mt. Hope Bay and the ginormous, brightly colored sign out front and you’ve got yourself one upbeat excursion.
PS ~ It’s only a matter of time before a high profile star of stage, screen or song (or social) starts summer-ing in Tiverton.
As always, if you make a coffee run to any of these fab spots after reading this, please do let them know you heard about them via Patty J and PattyJ.com.
