We Visited A Coffee Shop On The Water In This Charming Narragansett Village

Jerusalem, East Matunuck (aka, JEM) The Other Day

You Won’t Wanna SKIP THis One!

An online friend was recently out and about at this micro cafe in Jerusalem (a fishing village in Gansett that faces Galilee) and the minute I saw it, just knew I had to get there asap.

Skip’s Cafe is open 7am to 2pm Tuesday thru Sunday from Memorial to Labor Day and is the perfect spot to grab cold drinks, coffee on ice, pastries, ice cream and more either before the beach (East Matunuck is just up the road a bit) or during when you need a little late morning or early afternoon pick-me-up.

They have around eight (8) different flavors of iced coffee (including a signature JEM — Jerusalem, East Matunuck — blend), scones (regulars go gaga over the cream cheese one), muffins (as Seinfeld season 4 fans already know, “a muffin can be very filling”), and bagels.

Their freezer is also stocked with pints of Del’s Lemonade Ice Cream (who knew?) and a variety of Warwick Ice Cream including Autocrat Coffee Milk & Cookies, Winter Blast of ‘78, and Moonstone Vanilla.

The tables outside were occupied by sunny people (one woman complimented my blue and white sundress) enjoying their orders from Skip’s and the AMAZING view. (See photos above and below.)

I mean, July is one of the best times to be here in the Ocean State, amirite?

Parking in that neighborhood can be a little challenging. You might get lucky and find a space earlier in the day, but after 10:30 or 11am, it would probably be wise if you were strolling over from the beach. Or a house in the immediate vicinity. (Every single time I motor over to that part of RI, I think how great it would be if my parents had bought a little bungalow. *Sigh***)

Find Skip’s at 1161 Succotash Road in Narragansett, RI.
