We Had Coffee At What Could Be The Cutest Cafe In Providence

Coffee And Shoes

Ever since Melissa B (from In The Rhode) gave me a tip about a shiny NEW coffee shop in the Smith Hill neighborhood in Providence a few weeks ago, I’ve been meaning to get there.

Early yesterday afternoon, all the stars must have been aligned because Nicole (who was there helping out behind the scenes when I launched this blog back in the day) and I motored over and gotta say — Rise N’ Shine is superb!

First, let’s talk aesthetics and design: Before you even open the door, look up and you’ll spot a giant metal cup and saucer hanging from the sign. Woah! Next, you’ll notice so many nods to the space’s history, its previous chapter when it housed a cobbler. Vintage wooden shoe forms greet you at the entrance and there’s an entire section of them (from all over the world, something Nicole pointed out on closer examination) on one wall. On the opposite side there’s an antique shoe shine set up, featuring stunning leather chairs and stands from yesteryear . (See Photos Below.)

Food and drink? Their menu has something for every mood and craving, including cold brew (my pick) and cappuccino (Nic’s order which was in one of those old school NYC Greek coffee cups, a detail that certainly did not go unnoticed by us ). Also my compliments to the person who baked the marvelous Lemon Poppyseed Muffin I sampled yesterday. It was truly one of the best ones I’ve ever eaten and generously sized (coulda been a meal).

Frankly, the folks at Rise N’ Shine are bringing a big city coffee experience with a heaping helping of panache and whimsy to the cap city (not far from my old stomping grounds, PPMall, when I was a manager at Nordstrom).

Find ✨ Rise N’ Shineat 97 Holden Street in Providence, RI.

As of today, they are open Monday thru Friday from 7am to 1pm, Saturday 8am to 2pm.
