We Revisited This Classic Rhode Island Restaurant And Yum

Before launching my blog, I worked as a retail manager (anyone remember Cohoes in Garden City in Cranston and I know you can recall when Nordstrom was an anchor store in the Providence Place Mall).

Food wise, I was a tried and true regular at, and entirely devoted to, Gregg’s in Warwick AND North Kingstown. (Their other locations are in PVD and EP by the way.)

I would go for lunch (hellooooo, classic deli sandwiches, fries, and those darn pickles that are too good) and dinner with my mom. Then, when I met my now husband, he got thrown in the mix.

Pretty sure, at one point, there was a plan to work our way through the entire dessert menu. (One of my aunts, on my father’s side, used to bake cakes for them about 30 or 35 yrs ago. Furthermore, their delectable Pinwheel Cheesecake was a family favorite at our house when I was growing up.)

Well, after my site went live, yours truly lost touch with Gregg’s. You know, like those work friends you drift away from after you leave the job?

Tbh, I was no doubt off chasing all the glossy and trend-y things around Rhode Island to feature on the blog and social.

Well, finally got back to my foodie roots yesterday (aka, the Warwick Gregg’s), and you know what?

It was awesome!

The hubs and I popped in around 4 o’clock to order takeout and it was so nice to see the dessert cases fully stocked with all the luscious cakes that they have become synonymous with since their first restaurant open back in 1972.

While I was away they rolled out these terrific looking and girnormous cupcakes.

Another plus? You can get so many of the cakes by the slice. Try doing that at a traditional bakery. Not happening. (For the record, I opted for a piece of their Old Hollywood Cake yesterday, 4 layers of chocolate topped off with a buttercream frosting that will wow you.)

The folks at Gregg’s have also added a bunch of different vegetarian sandwiches and plates which I love. As a matter of fact, the hubs went with the veggie burger with a side of coleslaw — and news flash, there were no leftovers.

Now, I don’t eat meat anymore, but my 92 year old mom was beyond thrilled that I picked up the Everyday Turkey Dinner for her.

And before I forgot, they also included hot rolls and butter and a container of their much loved pickles in with our order, much to our delight.

Also, the bill was QUITE reasonable and the young man who helped us was really nice.
