The Breakfast At This Providence Diner Has People Lined Up Out The Door
Sometimes you just need some diner coffee, pancakes, and…a tofu scramble.
The hubs and I motored over to the West Side Diner (in my old neighborhood, I grew up a few blocks away) the other day for brunch — and it was hopping!
It’s been a while since I’ve been back to this wildly popular destination for casual eats.
The booths in the front part of the restaurant — the actual dining car — were, as per usual, FULL. (If you’ve ever tried to get a table there and waited on line, then you know...)
Thankfully we got seated in their new-to-me (and much needed because) back room with local art up on the walls.
PS And BTW — It too filled up quickly after we sat down and started studying the menu.
The hubs and I indulged in some classic breakfast food and drink: I was pleasantly surprised to see that tofu scramble on the menu. Meat-less dishes have, after all, become pretty darn mainstream.
And their short stack is a nice add-on if you aren’t feeling famished enough to polish off a full order of hot cakes.
Regulars adore the mix of the old-timey exterior with a completely updated interior as well as their French toast, omelettes, hash browns, and daily specials.
Find the West Side Diner at 1380 Westminster Street in Providence.
