We Tried The New Italian Restaurant In Cranston's Little Italy
Quick, early dinner last night at the NEW Iannuccilli 2 in Cranston’s Little Italy (aka, Knightsville).
Spoiler alert, this is yet another gem from Nick Iannuccilli who you may remember from his wildly popular Florentine Grill that he opened in North Providence in the early 90’s.
He also famously cooked for Frank Sinatra and Neil Diamond prior to their respective shows at the Providence Civic Center (now Amica Mutual Pavilion) back in the day.
Situated right next door to already legendary (original) Iannuccilli on Cranston Street, this cozy-bistro-style eatery is more of a casual set up but the food is just as fantastic.
The menu has antipastos, pastas, pizzettas, mains — we almost got the Salmon Picatta which sounded amazing…we’ll have to go back for that dish soon — and sweets.
We ended up going the appetizer route with one of their pizzetta specials and calamari.
We ordered the three cheese pizzetta special. The crust was absolute perfection and the cheese blend was thoughtfully layered. So many other white pizzas I’ve had are too thick and frankly, too salty. This one was just right!
The traditional calamari is a must try also, especially if you are a cala classicist.
Nick pops back and forth between the two restaurants, and the staff at this latest spot is so atttentive.
I also hear that they will be offering takeout at Iannuccilli 2. Loyal fans of the 1st Iannuccilli know that there is absolutely NO takeout at that location, lol. (One of my nieces tried to get around that rule but was ultimately unsuccessful, lol.)
Find Iannuccilli II at 1785 Cranston Street in Cranston, Rhode Island.
