The Chepachet Country Store That's All Decked Out For Christmas

If (like me) you had the Christmas tunes blasting on November 1st, you’re gonna wanna check out this historic country store in this quaint village in Glocester, Rhode Island.

In business since 1809 (and famous for being one of the oldest shops of its kind still in operation in the United States), Brown & Hopkins Country Store in Chepachet has rolled out their Christmas decorations as of last Friday, and they look so darn FESTIVE.

The store is under new ownership — and is merrier and brighter than it’s ever been.

And I’m not the only one saying it.

So many folks have messaged me to pretty much say the same.

It’s a delightful space to explore, and where you can get a little jump on your holiday shopping. (After all, only 7 more Saturdays til Jolly Ole Saint Nick is scheduled to make his annual appearance on the scene.)

We’re talking everything from penny candy (don’t miss the candy counter where they also have a nice selection of Yacht Club Soda, the official soda of Rhode Island), candles, and xmas ornaments to lovely tea towels, all kinds of toys, novelty t-shirts, aprons, baking kits, pantry items from local makers, utensils, colorful blankets and pillows, and soooo much more.

It’s almost like stepping into an old time-y Christmas movie.

I mean, you almost expect Mary and George Bailey (Donna Reed and Jimmy Stewart from the Frank Capra classic It’s A Wonderful Life) to come strolling through the double front doors.
