The Mexican Restaurant In South Kingstown For Marvelous Eats

This tiny, family run Mexican restaurant on High Street in SK opened their doors last summer.

Me? I had no idea about MAIZ, until happening by after spending the morning nearby on Main Street in Wakefield and their sweet, little eatery off to the side of the road caught my eye.

Went back again the other day and the veggie burrito (with bits of pineapple…yes, PINEAPPLE) I inhaled was fantastic.

And don’t even get me started about the street corn which was a scrumptious mix of creamy (by way of the cheesy sauce on top) and spicy crunchy.

Such a tasty indulgence!

In both instances, some of the best Mexican food I’ve eaten in my whole entire life. Ever.

Know what else? I am far from alone in my praise of this place.

They are winning over locals and tourists alike with their tamales, taco offerings, house ceviche, and much more.

We’re talking made to order from tippity top quality ingredients. You are gonna love, love, LOVE.

New MURAL

Also, when I first visited last year, Rhode Island artist Tom West was busy putting the finishing touches on the colorful mural in the photo above. (So glad I was there to see it.)

Please know that they are open 7 days (12noon to 7pm) and there’s some indoor counter seating but this is primarily a to-go or takeout type of set-up, so do plan accordingly.

PS — They also opened a new seasonal place this summer on Block Island called Calaveras. (Catch them NEXT summer as they closed for the peak szn on August 24th.)

Find Maiz at 58 High Street in South Kingstown, Rhode Island.
