The Tiny Bakery In Matunuck For Terrific Bread, Beach Buns, And More

A few months ago, we stay-cation-ed at the Admiral Dewey Inn in Matunuck, and while driving around and exploring the village, we spotted the sign for Daddy’s Bread on Moonstone Beach Road.

Later, I realized what a mistake we’d made by not stopping at this family run — the founder’s daughter has taken over since his passing — micro bakery on a quiet, primarily residential road that’s been a local fave since 1975. (How is it that someone who’s born and raised here in RI only just found out about this much loved destination in of this year?)

Daddy’s Bread is a no-frills, honor stand style bakery with all kinds of handmade-on-the-premises breads from Hunny White and 14 Grain to Rosemary Garlic, Cinnamon Raisin, Parmesan Dill Garlic, Blueberry Apple Cinnamon, and so many more.

Furthermore, these loaves are made with a short list of ingredients that you will recognize and be able to pronounce. No preservatives, which I LOVE. (This means they have a shelf life of about 3 days. But you can always freeze 1/2 which is what we did.)

The other day, they also had eggs from a nearby farm, their signature Beach Buns (cinnamon rolls that also have a Rhody fan club), and a ton of muffins including the ever-popular blueberry.

If you’re curious, Daddy’s is open every Friday, Saturday & Sunday thru October from 7am to 5pm. I mean, sure you could go at 3:30 or 4 o’clock, but the early bird (or carb lover) gets the best selection.

They take cash and venmo, and they have tabletop area where people leave love notes about their bread (some say it’s the best on the planet) and pastries.

Find Daddy’s Bread at 805 Moonstone Beach Road in South Kingstown, Rhode Island.
