A New Italian Restaurant In Cranston's Little Italy Neighborhood

Last Night at Bar Lazio in Knightsville (Cranston, RI)

Bar Lazio in Knightsville had their soft opening this week — it looks fantastic, especially adore the Sophia Loren mural in the back — and my husband & I had to get over there. (If you’ve been following me for a while, you already know my husband grew up in the Knightsville section of Cranston which is Cranston, RI’s Little Italy.)

Named for the region in Italy (Lazio) where many of the Italian Americans who settled in the neighborhood descended from, this delightful, little bistro actually sources much of what you see on the antipasti menu from Italy. They even have Italian soda for anyone craving a fizzy drink from The Boot, lol.

Whether you want to pop in and sit at the gorgeous bar for small plates (you can create your own antipasti board with cheeses, meats, olives, and add-ons like eggplant, artichoke hearts, and mushrooms) and a cocktail or grab a table and tuck into some paninis (Italian grilled sandwiches), insalata (salad), and pinsa (pizza) with your significant other, it’s a win-win.

For those doing a dry March or April, they also have a section of Mocktails on the drink menu. I ordered the one with lemonade and basil, and it was SWELL.

Got a sweet tooth? One of the owners is creating Italian desserts that will knock your socks off. We tried the chocolate chip ricotta cake (an update on a classic Italo-American sweet), brownie, cannolis, and ice cream last nite. So, so good!

Get there before all your friends start checking in.

Bar Lazio is located at 1669 Cranston Street in Cranston, Rhode Island.
