The Rhode Island Flower Stand For Spring Bouquets And Photos
Hooray, the Dahlia Shed in Middletown has reopened for the season.
Right now they’re open Wednesday through Friday from 9am to 5pm or until sold out. (In the not too distant future, they’ll be adding Saturdays.)
Despite having an impressive following and tons of gorgeous photos on their social, I feel like a lot of locals outside of that neck of the woods aren’t aware of them. (That means it’s NOT going to be overrun with groups carrying smart phones, cameras, and related accoutrements.)
Do go and pick up bunches of fresh dahlias from their self serve stand (the barn in the back of the property) when the OPEN sign is up.
in a few short months, this flower farm will look something like THESE images 😉
Please be aware that they only take cash or local checks. No plastic or Venmo.
And this is an honor (unmanned) stand, otherwise I’d be asking you to let them know that you found out about them here. (If you do happen to see someone working, though, let ‘em know you heard about the Dahlia Shed via Patty J and PattyJ.com.)
Next, let me say a few words about the flower crown phenomenon. Up until the last 2 or 3 years, I would have said it’s more of a West Coast thing but Dahlia Shed was one of early adopters as far as hosting diy classes for grownups and kids, teaching how to make them from scratch.
I mean, besides Frida Kahlo or Liz at her first wedding to Richard Burton, who looks better in flower crowns than kiddos? A
And again, dahlias, darn it! They are, after all, said to be a symbol of elegance, dignity, creativity, and inner strength.
You could also think of it this way: You’re not only differentiating yourself from bunches of peeps online, you’re also supporting a local Rhody (family run) farm.
Dahlia Shed is located at 644 East Main Road in Middletown, RI.
