My RI Life: Summer Favs Edition With Phoebe Joy

Our very stylish friend Phoebe Joy was one of the first people we spotlighted in the My RI Life series here on PattyJ.com. We're beyond thrilled she's back today with an update on her go-to's for Summer 2016 in the Ocean State.

After a long winter hibernation, it's time to enjoy the best spots RI has to offer this summer!

Happy Hour Fav's

Rooftop at G Pub - Nothing beats the city view at the top of the G Pub building! All I need is a generous pour of rose and a couple girlfriends for the perfect after work meet up.

Nautika, EG - Call me biased, but a certain bartender at Nautika knows just how I like my Ketel One mojito's and to keep glasses of wine coming at a steady (maybe constant) pace! I'm also obsessed with their chicken arugula and homemade gnocchi.

Raw Bar

Nothing says summer like a dozen oysters or a raw bar platter and a glass of prosecco. Here are a couple of my favorites.

TwoTen Oyster Bar, South Kingstown - I recently tried TwoTen after hearing great reviews and left a happy customer. I loved how upstairs had an upscale feel while downstairs had live music and a more relaxed vibe. My favorites were the sparkling ruby red cocktail, thai calamari, and oyster tacos.

Midtown Oyster Bar, Newport - Newport is such a quintessential part of summers in RI. I loved the oysters here because they have a great local variety and are on the smallish side (not a fan of huge oysters). The lobster roll is also ridiculously good! It's a nice spot to start at and then hop around Thames for the night.

Next Up To Try

Persimmon, Providence - Persimmon (originally from Bristol) just opened up shop a couple blocks from me and I'm dying to try it. The chef has had multiple James Beard Foundation Awards (a big deal in the culinary world) and the menu sounds to die for!

Simone's, Warren - Somehow I've missed this hidden gem in Warren that serves Mediterranean style dishes wth local and seasonal ingredients. The menu has 'snacks', smaller plates, and larger dishes. It sounds like a great spot for drinks and apps that are easy to share.
