Hey, It's The Return Of PVDonuts

On Tuesday night, while onboard an Amtrak Acela, heading back from NYC to PVD (Went to a bunch of shows at #NYFW this year. Did I tell you? #humblebrag), I got a tip about PVDonuts reopening the following morning. (Long story short: After having shared a space with other bakers over on Allens Ave., they secured their own space on Ives St. in Fox Point and have been working over the last 3 weeks to get the Ives space ready for biz.) Of course, I was kinda wiped out from all the NYC excitement, but I certainly wasn't going to let that stop me. Miss out on the hottest food-related relaunch of 2016? Uh, no.

So, it wasn't easy, but...I arrived early (around 7am, to get ten steps ahead of the throngs of PVDonut fans in the Greater Prov area and beyond), NOT a morning person whatsoever, but again, big freakin deal. The PVDonuts peeps made their (Surprise!) announcement on Insta, FB, and Twitter, that they were open and donut ready on 79 Ives Street, a little after 8am. Immediately following, I went in and picked out my 1/2 dozen (You were allowed 6 per person yesterday.), including their Cereal Milk which, as of this minute, is my absolute fav. This could change. I mean, they do have a Dave's Coffee Milk flavored one.

More Flavors They Featured Previously And Probably Will Again In The New Location: Cinnamon Toast Crunch Cereal Milk, Raspberry Coconut, Honey Lavender, Cotton Candy, Vanilla Sprinkled, Peanut Butter Fluff, Chocolate Olive Oil & Sea Salt, Coffee Cake, Berry Cheesecake (Some of these are brioche yeasted; others old fashioned. They usually specify when posting the daily menu online.)

Besides the bright, cheery interior (with furniture by Greycorkwho have a new-ish storefront, a stone's throw away, on Thayer.), the other noteworthy element is the addition of The Nitro Cart's special cold brew, a development I'm pretty sure will make many PVDonuts regulars ecstatic. As something of a coffee aficionado/addict myself, I think you'll be interested to know I drink The Nitro Cart's cold brew without any milk or Half N Half (To capitalize or not to capitalize, that is the question!), which is MAJOR. That doesn't happen. EVER. Yea, it tastes amazing.

*While waiting for my cold brew, I took a few pics for Insta(gram). PVDonuts - they are the total package. Scrumptious and photogenic. (Photo, courtesy of my friends at RI Food Fights, above.)

**My jeans are NOT high waters; they're cropped.

If you haven't experienced a PVDonut for yourself yet, now's definitely the time.

Ciao for Now,

Patty J
