The "Village" At This RI Resort Is Almost Like A Mini Vacay To The Swiss Alps
Still love Wickford Village but gotta say that the Fondue Village (photo above), now in its third buzzed about year at Ocean House in Watch Hill, is pretty fantastic too. As I’ve said previously, I’ve been wanting to book a meal there since it first launched on the North Lawn at 1 Bluff Avenue and finally hit add to cart and purchase on one of their new for this winter breakfast packages a few weeks ago.
We booked one of the 4 seater yellow gondolas which featured a whimsical chandelier made from replicas of deer antlers, red velvet curtains, cute throw pillows, place settings with Ocean House mugs, an xl heated blanket, and so many more cozy touches. There was even a cute soundtrack of vaguely European and old world-ish music that was pipped in (I think?) during our am repast. Also, out in the common area was a cozy fire pit and a number of Adirondack chairs ready and waiting for someone’s next Instagram photo op or Reel.
Frankly the only other thing, besides another electric blanket perhaps, that would have made our morning more enjoyable would have been if we had lucked out and it turned out to be one of those unseasonably warm December days when temps hit the 50’s or (gasp) 60’s. That being said, I would strongly suggest to anyone who’s going to book a meal there this winter (a real treat no matter how you slice it) to pull out their warmest coat or jacket, a heavy sweater, wool or polartec pants, and boots or booties. The atmosphere was captivating and made us feel as though we’d been transported to somewhere like Le P’tit Polyte or Flocons de Sel (2 stylish and highly regarded restaurants) in the Swiss Alps , the menu was delightful (think mix-up-your-own hot chocolate, authentic muesli and crepes, and chocolate fondue), but it was freezing.
In addition, I’ll be sharing professional photos by Lisette Rooney (the ones you see in this post were taken with I-Phones) and more details over on Instagram later this week as well.
Take care,
Patty J
