The Newport Based Stylist & Fashion Curator You'll Want To Start Following On Social
Hello! This week on the blog I’m spotlighting some dynamic Black entrepreneurs and creatives based here in Rhode Island. Today I’m pleased to introduce you to style guru Sandee Saunders from Newport.

I first met Sandee Saunders last summer in Newport where she had transformed a small-ish retail space, not far from Thames, into a delightful and intriguing pop up filled with exciting apparel and lively guests and conversation. (Previously she had planned and hosted a similar event at the Newport Art Museum, hand selecting each and every item that was out on display.)
Since relocating to Rhode Island in 2018, Sandee has established herself as a leading light when it comes to fashion, lifestyle, and collaborations with other local entrepreneurs and creatives. She has also become known for supporting both established and emerging designers by featuring them as part of collabs and on her social media channels.

Via The Sandee Saunders Project, established in 2010, she continues to help clients and friends (many of her clients over the years have become her friends) as a stylist, fashion curator and art consultant.
Sandee’s own style is a mix of updated and polished classics , punctuated with bold details and dashes of bright color. Before COVID, you might have found her meeting friends at The Chanler or The Vanderbilt for coffee and tea and a brainstorming session for the upcoming season in the City By The Sea.
Unfortunately due to the pandemic, she has had to pause her events and person-to-person consulting for the moment, but rest assured she has some marvelous sartorial things in the works for the near future, when we can all gather together again safely in a social setting. In addition, Sandee tells me that she is, as we speak, putting the finishing touches on an online shop that she expects to launch shortly.
Sandee also has a teenage son, Ian, and appeared with him last year on the cover of Newport Neighbors magazine. (See photo above.)
