All The Ways This RI Makeup Artist, Momma, & Small Biz Owner Is Changing Things Up Right Now
Hello, my name is Jenny DiMucci and I’ve known Patty J for about 20 years. (Where did the time go, Patty J?) We worked together and shared office space at Nordstrom Providence many moons ago, and it was a blast. I was in Cosmetics at the time. A lot has changed over the years, however, one thing certainly remains the same, both of our love for products! Cosmetic junkies to the core and more but we’ll get to that later.
What am I up to now? Well I’m a mom of two great boys (Nevan & Remy 11 & 9) and am married to my wonderfully talented husband, Michael, for 15 years...and like most parents we have been helping our children to navigate through this new virtual learning concept. Of course we’ve also been helping them through the pandemic, mostly unscathed, providing them with updates on the news as well as current events during this critical time in our nation’s history.
We have two pups, two kitties (also all boys) and we reside in Cranston ❤️. We are thoroughly enjoying spending time together at home, even though it is a very tumultuous, upsetting, and uncertain time. My mom, “Mimi,” continues to remind us of how significant these events are to us, as a society, as we emerge through this time together. No only because of the virus, but in addition to recent events that will forge our future and potentially change our lives for the better. #blacklivesmatter🖤
We Love To Eat!
After the pandemic started, we joined Martha and Marley Spoon, a really neat way to try some new recipes and get food items delivered directly to your door. It’s been instrumental in helping us organize our week - especially since ordering from different places has been so difficult. The food is delicious! My husband is a fantastic cook and really enjoys creating new meals.
We Have Been Spending A Lot Of Time Outdoors
On nice days we try to go outside, have breakfast on the porch, listen to the birds, and try to get office, schoolwork, and artwork completed, “En Plein Air.” My husband just started a Square Foot Garden. This summer we hope to harvest some really fab veggies. (As you know, grocery shopping during the pandemic has been quite tricky.) And the boys love to see what we’ve grown each day.
My boys also love to play outside every day and in any weather, dreaming up many adventures and creative games. Many times they make their own props, costumes, videos, or action figures to go along with whatever game they are playing.
We Love To Be Active
I’ve been taking a lot of walks with my dogs. My boys have been riding their bikes and sometimes coming with me. I’ve also been working out as often as 5 days a week, twice a week virtually with my trainer Maria Rosa. She’s phenomenal and has been an integral part of my sticking with a routine while at home. (I’ve been taking Zumba twice a week virtually with her too.)
I Work A Lot Too But Try To Keep Everything Balanced
Some days better than others but here’s what’s on the work to do list…I’m a teacher at a wonderful little Preschool in Cranston, called Faith Nursery School. FNS is a marvelous environment for children to learn through play. My colleagues and I have been working on creating virtual content daily to stay connected with our students and families. We are posting videos of books being read, fun ‘shares’ from Roger Williams Park Zoo, great quotes by Fred Rogers, singing familiar songs, creating yoga and how-to videos, craft ideas, and helping them celebrate milestones and holidays with video collages. And the list goes on! At the moment we are all working on moving up and graduation parades for our students to end out their year.🥳🚙🚕🚗
Our Family Business
When I’m not being a mom or a teacher, my husband and I (and the boys 😊) run an art, music, and beauty studio on Oaklawn Ave in Cranston on the lower level of Studio Exhale. My husband Michael DiMucci is a tenor vocalist and piano instructor at our studio (as well as an art teacher in Providence for over 20 years).
Since the pandemic began, we have restructured how we conduct day-to-day business, switching everything to virtual classes, lessons, and events. We really wanted our piano, voice, and choral students to maintain their regular routines during the Covid crisis. Unbelievably every student has maintained their lessons and kept up regardless of how difficult this change over to virtual has been. In addition to voice/piano we have a singing group for children called the “Songbirds” (#tweettweet) 🎶🕊that meets on Zoom 3 times per month, singing fun songs from Broadway to Disney to current hits pop. We have a blast and enjoy putting a creative program together for them. (We completed a recording of them singing “Beauty & The Beast”.)
And P.S…An enormous shout out to parents, teachers and students alike. BRAVO! What outstanding work has been done by all. Congrats to making it through this school year.
Self Care, Makeup And More
I’ve been a professional makeup artist for over twenty years. It’s something that I love to do. I also ❤️ products and have my own line of makeup and skincare. It’s always been my priority to create innovative, up-to-date, and healthy items that work for everyone. That being said, my newest items, launching soon, are a Deep Hand Treatment (because we’ve all been washing our hands to the bone) and the other is a Super C Vitamin Cream, a perfect daily antioxidant and brightening creme. (Now that I’m in my 40’s, my skin is different and my application is certainly different. I’m more practical and love the look of skin: Pretty, dewy, and healthy skin.) Cannot wait until they arrive!
I’ve also been working on a line of organic, gluten-free, and vegan makeup, including a makeup primer, lip gloss, bronzer and face shimmers. Since my site is being revamped right now, you can find me showcasing products mainly on my Facebook and Instagram pages, Twinkle & Smooch Beauty. You can also private message me there with any questions or concerns you may have about your skin. 💄
One Studio Smooch - We Are All One
Through virtual engagement and social media, we have been trying very hard to support our community through the arts. We are so grateful to those on the front lines and hope to bring some joy and spread kindness in our own way. With that in mind, we are rolling out an apparel line to help promote peace, love, and harmony through the arts with proceeds eventually going towards a children’s based non-profit. #spreadkindness
We want to promote positivity and give back to our community by spreading joy through art, artistic expression, music, and of course, makeup! 😉
I hope that everyone else has also been finding their own purpose and inner peace through all of this by persevering and preserving their inner strength. By filling up their bucket first, so they can fill up those of others with strength, love, and encouragement. We are all ONE. And there is peace in knowing that for me -One Life, One Love, One Art, and One Voice. #onestudiosmooch
