There's A New Restaurant In Warren And You'll Definitely Want To Go
Yesterday, we were back in Warren (!!!), this time for an early lunch at a brand new restaurant that I couldn’t wait to talk about.
Waterdog Kitchen & Bar opened this month at 125 Water Street — a friend who is more familiar with the street tells me it had previously been the site of the Nathaniel Porter Restaurant & Inn — and it’s a casual eat and drink lovers paradise.
Thoughtfully prepared and delish dishes (my big call-out is a familiar one, a request for more meatless options), tasty drinks (including a refreshing, and IG worthy, cocktail called the Garden Spritzer), an inviting and laid-back outdoor space (we are only dining al fresco these days and were pretty happy to see the umbrella topped tables and benches on their side patio) without a hint of any snootiness, and some absolutely beautiful weather yesterday in the OS.
It’s the kind of restaurant you’d expect to stumble upon in Providence, Boston or maybe Montauk. (Andy Warhol famously rented out his compound there to The Stones back in 1975 and their stay inspired the song “Memory Motel.”) I’ve eaten at a lot of local restos since launching this blog and this one’s an honest-to-goodness standout.
So, if you haven’t been to Water Street in a while (or ever), I have yet another reason for you to motor on over with your significant other or that good friend you’ve been meaning to catch up with in person this summer. You can sit outside (reservations recommended), order a few creative cocktails or lemonades, and definitely start with the hummus app which was an unexpected and delightful kickoff (above and beyond the usual boring hummus platter you might be accomstomed to) to our midday meal yesterday afternoon.
