You Donut Want To Miss These New Mini Sweets I Found At The Providence Flea

Yesterday Outside The Providence Flea

Every time I make it over to the Providence Flea, I discover at least a dozen brand-new-to-me, micro local businesses.

As of this month, the Flea is still indoors at the Farm Fresh RI complex at 10 Sims Avenue, where I hear New Harvest Coffee is relocating the coffee bar that they’ve had on the ground floor of the Arcade forever.

Everyone was masked up yesterday afternoon, and there’s no eating or drinking once you pass thru the entrance, so we felt pretty good about the whole thing. (Psst…They are going back outside to South Water coming up in June, in case you’re curious.)

Anywho, one of marvelous emerging businesses I stumbled upon Sunday afternoon is the Black Dog Donuts food truck, a family run venture established in 2020 (anyone who launched last year, that alone deserves massive amounts of applause and respect) and based in Exeter.

And I really like that their freshly baked (on the truck no less!), cake style doughnuts are MINIS: No disrespect to other Rhody based donut makers, but sometimes less is more, more, MORE! I mean, not one but two bites sized means you can splurge on multiple flavor experiences, instead of eating your way thru a single ginormous donut and then immediately following, being way too full to even look at another sweet.

We picked up a 1/2 dozen for the very sharp price of $6.75, opting for their 2 Cinnamon Sugar, 2 French Toast, and 2 Chocolate Chocolate Chip. As is the norm these days, because I think we can all agree that people want variety, they change up their menu weekly, so you might end up with a slightly different yet equally as delicious mix.

Black Dog Donut also has their signature “Squad Cups” with layers upon layers of either cake, brownies or doughnuts and whipped cream. They do all the work (have YOU glanced at the steps for making cake cups, let’s just say the process sounds like quite the pastry adventure) and you get to enjoy the finished product.

As always, if you pick up some donuts or dessert cups after reading this, please do let them know that you found out about them here via Patty J and PattyJ.com.
