We Visited This New Rooftop Lounge On Water Street In Mystic And Wow

Up On A Rooftop

Yesterday we ventured over state lines into Mystic (Connecticut) to a rooftop lounge that I’ve been hearing great things about — Mix Rooftop & Bar. It’s from the folks who brought us Sift Bakery and is located directly above them. Normally they open up at 4pm, but with the Monday holiday, they had special mid-day hours from 11am to 3pm.

First, let me just say that it’s soooooo PRETTY. Plenty of different seating options. Fresh flowers. I even spotted a gas firepit framed by beaucoup chairs. The back wall with their name up in bright orange (their signature color) is ideal for photos, video or both.

Also, as a rule they do offer a selection of small plates in addition to fun-tastic sips and beverages, but it was only drinkies during that daytime window on 07-04. (No worries! The hubs actually walked down to the bakery and picked us up a couple of their salads, so it all worked out in the end.)

As we were approaching the building, the hubs and I could see that there was a line out the door to get inside the bakery and order pastries, breads, and lunch food. (Psssst: Pretty sure Sift has expanded their offerings to include salads, avo toast and much more since I was there last.)

After asking one of the team there, though, we found that we did not have to wait on line in order to patronize the rooftop. (Whew, what a relief!)

That being said, I highly recommend making a reservation via their site if you want to go during their regular nighttime hours of biz because this place is only going to get busier and busier as the season progresses.

The bartender went out of her way to mix up some mocktails for us (see photos above) and they were quite yummy. We also met some really nice couples whilst sitting at the bar.

Mix is a delicious spot for thoughtfully crafted cocktails, wine, beer, and light bites. We would totally go back!

And you can always take a nice leisurely stroll thru the village either before or after. There are so many other terrific small businesses and sights in the vicinity to explore.
